We are going to use this page to keep our kinship/ Family & Friends carers and SGO carers who are not on social media up to date with news from Bradford Fostering.
If you are worried about any aspect of caring for your child or young person, please contact your SSW directly if you have one or if you cannot get hold of them or don't have a social worker, call the Fostering Service on 01274 434331 and ask for either Family & Friends Duty or SGO duty during Monday to Friday office hours or EDT out of office hours on 01274 431010.
Other helplines include:
The Fostering Network's Members' Hotline for F&F carers 020 7401 9582 from 10 am - 3 pm, Monday to Friday.
The member helpline does get very busy and so if you call during opening hours it is likely you will hear their voicemail message – it just means they are on a call. Always leave your name and telephone number (clearly and slowly) and they will aim to return your call within three working days if the message is left over the weekend.
The Fostering Network's Stress support service - UK
Members of The Fostering Network (F&F carers only) can access a completely confidential stress support service on 01384 885734. *Please ask to be put through to the stress helpline
Further support is available to our kinship or Family & Friends carers and SGO carers from Grandparents Plus.
"We’re committed to supporting kinship care families through this uncertain time and, in order to keep kinship families, our staff and volunteers safe, we’ve had to take the decision to suspend face-to-face work until further notice.
Our project worker will continue to offer one-to-one support to kinship carers as planned, but by phone instead of face-to-face. You can continue to request support from your project worker in the usual way:
Rachael Sherrington, t: 07931 158313, e: email@example.com
We know how important peer support is, especially at the current time, so while we’re not able to run support groups at the moment, we’ll be setting up Whatsapp or Messenger groups, if they don’t already exist. You can also access our national Facebook page here where we can keep you updated and you can connect with others.
Our expert advice service is open as usual and can be contacted:
• - by phone on: 0300 123 7015
• - via our website: https://www.grandparentsplus.org.uk/forms/advice
• - by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org
You’re all invited to join our free kinship community of over 6,500 carers as a great way to stay in touch with us and connect with others. You can join, regardless of your legal order, for free via this link: Kinship Community We’ll be sharing tips from other carers during these difficult times, including how to keep the children occupied.
Very best wishes during these challenging times from the Grandparents Plus team
